Upgrade in production cell 112

More capacity, better ergonomics, and ready for new products

Over the past period, significant work has been done within production on a substantial improvement to the powder carousel in cell 112. Thanks to a number of smart technical adjustments, the line has not only become faster and more efficient but is also better prepared for future product developments. At the same time, ways have been explored to make the work for operators more practical and ergonomic.

The powder carousel in cell 112 is an installation that was designed and built in-house approximately 20 years ago. Over all those years, this machine has proven itself as a reliable solution for filling jars and tubes. However, due to the growing demand for our products, the need arose to investigate how we could optimize this line and increase its capacity.

Use of a Zalkin sealing machine

An important step in this project was the integration of an existing Zalkin capping machine. To create space for this, the carousel filling machine was relocated within the cell. This allowed for the installation of a 4-head Zalkin capping machine that can apply the caps faster and more consistently.

Thanks to this expansion, the line can handle higher production speeds, and we are better able to reliably process larger cap sizes. This contributes directly to a higher output and a more stable packaging process.

Smart reuse of existing equipment

To feed the caps automatically and reliably, an existing trigger sorting machine was converted into a cap sorting machine. Thanks to this smart modification, existing equipment could be reused and optimally integrated into the renewed line layout.

This beautifully illustrates how technical insight and creative thinking come together within the team to realize practical solutions.

Better ergonomics for operators

In addition to the technical improvements, attention has also been paid to the operators’ workspace. For instance, a packing table has been installed to allow for a more organized packing process. In the near future, this will be expanded with a lifting aid, so that packing can be performed more ergonomically and with less physical strain.

This adjustment contributes to a safer and more pleasant working environment.

Ready for new products

The adjustments to the line were not only made to improve current production. They also make it possible to process new products, such as laundry fragrance granules in cardboard tubes. This makes the line more flexible and better prepared for future product developments.

With these improvements, we are taking a significant step towards higher production capacity, better workability, and more flexibility in the packaging process.
